EssayWiz is a writing tool with a free plan that helps students check their own writing for AI-like sentences and copied text. This page explains what we collect and why.

Google sign-in

To use the checker you sign in with your Google account. Google shares only your basic profile with us: your name, email address and profile picture. We use this only to show who is signed in and to limit how many checks one person can run per minute, so the tool stays free and fair. We do not post anything to your account, read your email, or access any other Google data.

Your text

When you run a check, your text is sent to Anthropic's Claude AI model to produce the result, and for the plagiarism check, to search the web. Your text is not stored by EssayWiz and is not used to build any profile of you. The quick check runs entirely in your browser.

Files you upload

Word, PDF and text files are read inside your browser. Only the extracted text is used, as described above.

Free plan and subscriptions

The free plan lets every signed-in student use all tools for up to 250 words per check. To keep the service fair, we count how many free checks each account makes per day, linked to your Google account ID, and that count is deleted after two days. EssayWiz Pro costs $5 USD a month, removes the word limit, and is paid through PayPal, with a PayPal account or any debit or credit card. PayPal handles the payment, so we never see or store your card or bank details. We store only your PayPal subscription ID, linked to your Google account ID, so the site knows you have Pro. You can cancel any time in your PayPal account under Settings, then Payments and Manage automatic payments. After you cancel you keep Pro until the end of the month you already paid for, and you will not be charged again. For refund questions, email us at the address below.

Helping train EssayWiz's own AI (optional)

EssayWiz is building its own AI models, starting with its AI detector. Under the text box there is a checkbox: "Let EssayWiz use this text to train its own AI". It is off unless you tick it.

When it is ticked, the text you check may be saved in our database to train and test our models. If you press "Wrong, I wrote this myself" on an AI result, we save that label too. Rewrites our tools produce for you may also be saved as examples of machine-written text. With each saved text we store a one-way code made from your Google account ID, never your name or email, so we can remove your texts on request. We never sell this data or publish your texts.

When the box is not ticked, your text is not saved. We only keep your thumbs up/down feedback and, for plagiarism checks, a one-way code of any sentence that matched a published source plus that source's link, so the same passage is found faster next time. The code can't be turned back into your sentence.

To delete everything you contributed, sign in on the main page and click Delete my saved texts at the bottom of the left menu. It is removed straight away.

Usage records

To understand how the site is used and what it costs to run, we record each check you run: which tool, how many words, the date, and how much AI processing it used. These records are linked only to a one-way code made from your Google account, never your name, email or the text itself.

Cookies and storage

We keep your sign-in (and, if you subscribe, your PayPal subscription ID) in your browser's local storage so you stay signed in. We do not use advertising or tracking cookies.

Sharing

We do not sell or share your personal information. Text is processed by Anthropic only to produce your result, under Anthropic's terms. Payments are processed by PayPal under PayPal's terms.

Deleting your data

Click Sign out on the site to remove your sign-in from the browser. You can also remove EssayWiz's access at any time at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
